This collective of artists from the US and Mexico weave communities between borders through the art of movement. This residency will include school visits, painting a mini mural with local youth, and a land-based site specific performance that connects to our annual Ritual of Remembrance activities.

The Dance of Hope residency made a big splash in our small town context: in the schools, through programs here, and in our downtown festival! The following weekend, they were the superstars of the LEAF festival! It was an honor and pleasure to share meals, make memories, learn stories and relish the connecting power of music and performance. We are building our capacity for hospitality – for program residents, visiting friends, and our growing community (now that Leonardo, Romina, Léon, and Libertad have returned to us). Nurturing energy is being given to the garden and the children. We had our first baptism on the land for Cuillin McLeod, my new godson. Old carnival friends keep coming around. Most recently Helen Hale, Jacob Taylor, Jimmy Betts, Storm, and Samuel Lockridge with Rebecca O’Shea and baby Willow in tow. And we’re constantly making new friends! It takes a village y’all!
