‘On Sacred Ground’ Movie Screening & Discussion
Join us for a unique event, Sunday, March 5 from 3 to 5:30pm, hosted by Dreaming Stone Arts and Ecology Center and Indigenized Energy. We will preview the new movie, On Sacred Ground, followed by discussion about first hand experience of the Dakota Access Pipeline protest and events that have followed including the inspiring efforts of Indigenized Energy.
ON SACRED GROUND is based on the true events during the 2016 construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline that runs through the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. The film follows a journalist and military veteran as he goes to Standing Rock and has a transformational experience. The movie features performances from indigenous actors Kerry Knuppe (Lakota), David Midthunder (Lakota), Marshall Dancing Elk Lucas (Woodlands Indian), Irene Bedard (Cree) and Che Jim (Diné).
The screening of ON SACRED GROUND will be followed by a discussion with Cody Two Bears and Lianna Costantino. Cody Two Bears is an enrolled member of The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. His work centers on the collaboration of Western science with Indigenous traditional knowledge. Cody is the Founder and Executive Director of Indigenized Energy which is actively helping tribes develop long term energy plans and pursue strategies that will enable a just transition to renewable energy. Lianna is a tribal citizen of the Cherokee Nation Of Oklahoma and a storyteller. Working with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Lianna serves as the Chair for the Tribal Alliance Against Frauds and the Chair of the Cherokee Healing and Wellness Coalition.

A sliding scale payment of $5 to $25 can be paid on-site at the time of the event. No one will be turned away by the lack of funds. Snacks will be provided.
